National Apprenticeship Week

It’s National Apprenticeship Week and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the value of apprenticeships! Here at ICCI we are huge supporters of an apprenticeship scheme. It’s a fabulous opportunity for someone starting their career to earn as they learn and gain nationally recognised qualifications.

We currently have two members of staff on our apprenticeship programme, both in our underwriting teams.  They are permanent members of our team and get to enjoy all our employee benefits.  This summer, we are offering an opportunity for a school leaver or graduate to join our apprenticeship programme in our Claims team as our Claims Apprentice.

What is so unique about our apprenticeship scheme?

Whether you are just starting out in your career or looking to make a change, our apprenticeship is a great way to gain the skills and experience required to succeed in the insurance industry.

It is a fast-track programme over the course of 3 years to get you to Diploma CII stage. It enables you to earn whilst you learn and grow your career, whilst experiencing a fully tailored training programme with the ability to experience all areas of the business.

Why should you consider a career in insurance?

The industry is a strong and important part of our local financial services with a wide range of career opportunities.  Insurance isn’t often a preferred career choice for school or university leavers, but it has so much to offer. You can develop a long, successful, and fulfilling career in insurance and have fun whilst doing it.

What do our current Apprentices think of our scheme?

Annabelle Barnes started on our Apprentice programme 2 years ago and is now a Cert CII qualified Underwriter working towards her Diploma. Annabelle said:

I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship so far. It has exceeded my expectations in a lot of ways. The role as an apprentice has meant that a good structure has been put into place, providing me with a well-rounded understanding of the business not just the day-to-day tasks. This has been done by shadowing my colleagues in personal and commercial underwriting, claims and accounts, as well as attending professional development courses online and at the GTA.

ICCI is a friendly, local company with the support of our parent company RSA, with many career progression opportunities in multiple areas of insurance. Before joining ICCI my knowledge and understanding of insurance was limited but I learnt so much in a short period of time on the programme.
