Paul Masterton

Non-Executive Chairman

Paul spent most of his career in the printing and communications industry, holding senior leadership roles in Europe, the US and Asia. From 2008 to 2013, Paul was the chief executive of the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, an internationally renowned wildlife charity. Paul has a number of directorships in finance, insurance and property development and, in 2012, was appointed as the founding chairman for Digital Jersey, a partnership between the Government of Jersey and the digital sector to represent and promote the industry.

Lee Mooney

Non-Executive Director

Lee is the Managing Director of UK Commercial at RSA, leading the Commercial Lines business across the UK. Having held various roles across the business over the past 23 years, he began his career with RSA in a casualty underwriting role, working through various other commercial underwriting positions before moving into the Sales Division as a Broker Development Manager, and then onto a Global Account Director role. He returned to the North as Regional Manager for the North East, before becoming Regional Director North and then UK Regions Managing Director. Lee was formally appointed as a Non-Executive Director for Insurance Corporation in February 2022 and is also a Board Director for Tower Insurance, which is based in the Isle of Man.

Carolyn Mackenzie

Non-Executive Director

Carolyn is the Director of Commercial and Complex Claims at RSA in the UK, leading the team responsible for all Commercial, Large and Specialty Claims arising from business written in the UK & International. Carolyn has held various roles in insurance and reinsurance claims over the past 29 years, having started her career with Sun Alliance International in 1993. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurer. Carolyn was formally appointed as a Non-Executive Director for the Insurance Corporation in April 2022, and is also the Non-Executive Chairperson for RSA Law.

Sarah Brehaut

Non-Executive Director

Sarah is a partner in the Insolvency & Dispute Resolution Group of Walkers (Guernsey) LLP. She has significant experience in all aspects of commercial dispute resolution including an emphasis on insolvency, trust and fund litigation. On a personal level Sarah was born locally and is raising her two young daughters on the Island.

Mark Helyar

Non-Executive Director

Mark Helyar is a Guernsey Advocate and holds an Of Counsel position at Bedell Cristin in Guernsey, Channel Islands, having formerly been its founding and managing partner between 2006 and 2016. Mark is a Barrister of Grays Inn and a Notary Public and has a specialist practice in reinsurance, insurance and ILS, for which he is recognised by international independent legal directories as a leading practitioner. He has advised foreign governments in Europe, the Middle East and Asia and their regulatory authorities on the drafting, inception, regulation and use of insurance and reinsurance structures and legislation. Mark was the Bâtonnier (president) of the Guernsey Bar Council between 2012 and 2014. During his career he and his team have won a number of nominations and international awards for insurance and reinsurance transactions, including the worlds first private listed CAT bond (Solidum) and the first ever Takaful securitisation structured as a Sharia compliant note (Salam III) and more recently life deal of the year 2016 (SQ Re Vita II, Trading Risk Awards). Since stepping down as a partner in August 2016 Mark now focusses on strategic business development matters with clients and also sits as director of a number of Guernsey regulated insurers, reinsurers, investment funds and ILS issuers / transformers.

Mark Marshall

Managing Director

Mark is a Chartered management accountant who has held various roles across the RSA business over the last 10 years. Prior to becoming Managing Director of Insurance Corporation in 2019, Mark was the Programme Director for RSA’s strategic response to Brexit. Before this Mark was the Finance Director for RSA’s European business. Mark has significant experience leading Commercial Insurance teams and developing strategies for business outperformance. Mark is passionate about his customers and people and building strong relationships both internally and externally. Outside of work, Mark is married with a young family and loves to cook, travel and spend time with family and friends.
