Jersey Award Winners Announced

National Trust have walked away with the top prize in this year's Insurance Conservation Awards. The organisation wins £2,000 to help continue the restoration and management of ponds at La Mielle des Morville.

Insurance Corporation chairman and one of the judges, Peter Walpole said that the standard of entrants was exceptionally high.

"My fellow judges and I found it very difficult to decide on a winner this year as there are so many worthy projects.  We feel that La Mielle des Morville nosed ahead because of its community focus.  This precious area of land is also a valuable breeding ground for certain species of bird."

This year is the 21st anniversary of the competition in the Channel Islands and the judges decided to present a special award to the Jersey Hedgehog Preservation Group.
