A Great Day At The Insurance Corporation Channel Islands Football Muratti Vase

What a fabulous day it was for the Insurance Corporation Channel Islands Football Muratti Vase! The sun shone brightly on a packed crowd at the Track, with drummers drumming and the pre-match highlight of the matchball delivery by the Prince of Wales regiment Skydiving Team.

It was a magnificent display for spectators and made for a great carnival atmosphere from the off. Glyn and the team were delighted to host their broker guests from both Jersey and Guernsey and after a great lunch, they all enjoyed the thrills of the most important football game of the year for Channel Islanders.

There was also much excitement for children of ICCI staff and friends as they lined up to be Muratti Mascots and accompanied the Guernsey players onto the pitch.

Guernsey had a great start by scoring within the first few minutes and then an amazing 'history book spectacular' goal from Ross Allen put them 2-0 up just before half-time. But Jersey came out fighting in the second half and scored a well deserved goal. It was nail-biting stuff as Guernsey fought hard not to concede an equaliser and just managed to hold on to retain the trophy for the second year running for the first time in 21 years.

Congratulations Guernsey!
