Meet the Board

 

Paul Masterton
Non-Executive Chairman

Paul spent most of his career in the printing and communications industry, holding senior leadership roles in Europe, the US and Asia. From 2008 to 2013, Paul was the chief executive of the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, an internationally renowned wildlife charity. Paul has a number of directorships in finance, insurance and property development and, in 2012, was appointed as the founding chairman for Digital Jersey, a partnership between the Government of Jersey and the digital sector to represent and promote the industry.

 

Peter Walpole Chartered Insurer, FIRM, FIoD, FCMI
Senior Non-Executive Director

Peter is the founder of Insurance Corporation which he established in 1982 with share capital of £500,000; on his retirement as Managing Director in 2007, the value of the Corporation was estimated at £110 million. Over the years Peter has and continues to serve many diverse business, political and charitable organisations as president, chairman or board/committee member. He is actively involved in the off-shore financial services sector and in the wider world is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers and a Freeman of the City of London. On a personal note, Peter is married to Jean and they have four children who are living and working in Hong Kong, Guernsey, Perth Western Australia and San Francisco.

Sarah Brehaut
Non-Executive Director

Sarah is a partner in the Insolvency & Dispute Resolution Group of Walkers (Guernsey) LLP. She has significant experience in all aspects of commercial dispute resolution including an emphasis on insolvency, trust and fund litigation. On a personal level Sarah was born locally and is raising her two young daughters on the Island.

 

Mark Helyar
Non-Executive Director

Mark Helyar is a Guernsey Advocate and holds an Of Counsel position at Bedell Cristin in Guernsey, Channel Islands, having formerly been its founding and managing partner between 2006 and 2016.  Mark is a Barrister of Grays Inn and a Notary Public and has a specialist practice in reinsurance, insurance and ILS, for which he is recognised by international independent legal directories as a leading practitioner.  He has advised foreign governments in Europe, the Middle East and Asia and their regulatory authorities on the drafting, inception, regulation and use of insurance and reinsurance structures and legislation.  Mark was the Bâtonnier (president) of the Guernsey Bar Council between 2012 and 2014.  During his career he and his team have won a number of nominations and international awards for insurance and reinsurance transactions, including the worlds first private listed CAT bond (Solidum) and the first ever Takaful securitisation structured as a Sharia compliant note (Salam III) and more recently life deal of the year 2016 (SQ Re Vita II, Trading Risk Awards).  Since stepping down as a partner in August 2016 Mark now focusses on strategic business development matters with clients and also sits as director of a number of Guernsey regulated insurers, reinsurers, investment funds and ILS issuers / transformers.

 
 

Mandy Hunt
Managing Director

Mandy Hunt is the Managing Director of ICCI having joined the business in September 2015 as General Manager and joining the board in August 2016. Mandy has spent her entire career in the Insurance Industry working for Willis and Lowndes Lambert as an Insurance broker, before moving to our parent company RSA Group in September 1998. Mandy became an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in January 2000 and later became a Chartered Insurer. Mandy has held a variety of roles during her career including Professional Indemnity Broker, Claims Manager, Liability Lead Trader, Schemes and Packages Lead Trader prior to being appointed Regional Manager for the new Redhill trading site in August 2013.

From an underwriting perspective Mandy is a Liability specialist with particular expertise in managing large liability schemes. Outside of work Mandy is married to Neil with 3 children who take up most of her spare time and has previously been involved with Surrey Hockey in the role of Secretary and Chairperson of the Surrey Ladies Hockey league and Chairperson of St Johns Nursery in Redhill.
